Ween at The Tabernacle, Atlanta GA

We were not the oldest people at this show.
The Ween brothers were rocking out a little harder than usual, playing it up I think, to the baseball hatted college boys.

Rob braved the crowd in the pit. He loves to be in the middle of it. At 5 feet, 5 inches I found my spot in the back against the wall with a good view of the show.

This was our first live show at a music venue in the city. The Tabernacle is what used to be a church. It didn't look like any major renovations were made when the conversion was made, except for bars on every floor bing installed. Staircase after staircase lead up to balconies that overlook the stage below. Huge rooms filled with large wooden furniture are tucked away all over the building, open to the public. It was really cool to explore the basement all the way up to the top floor with Ween playing in the background.

Met some friendly people and couldn't help doing the 'That Guy' pose with this unsuspecting victim...

Yes that is my Ween concert t-shirt from the time we saw them in Ventura CA. I keep it in my groupie drawer.
Speaking of groupies - Rob spotted a cluster of them upstairs.

Oh girls, wearing clothes doesn't mean you love the band any less.

Housewarming in Summergrove

Kim and Ken's party on Saturday was a new house full of fun.

Rob and I arrived early in the day to help set up and get the place ready for a ton of good people. We carefully arranged the cornhole boards outside in the back...wait, the what? Cornhole. I didn't name it but it is a pretty fun game that includes two stands with a hole in each and eight weighted throwing bags. Hugely popular out here and if you find yourself on a competitive team you will be up into the early hours of the morning trying to score to 21.

The cul-de-sac lined up with cars and pretty soon their house was filled up.

In other news
- My interviews on Friday went well though it was weird to put on pressed clothes and heels again. Will have to get back into that mind frame after a truly wonderful month off with my husband and family.
Pete & Adi hit the road today and should be here this Friday. I'm so excited I can barely stand it.
Rob and I are going to see Ween (his birthday present) tomorrow at The Tabernacle and it should be a rockin show.

Rob's Birthday in Another New City

My redhead turned 34 last Saturday and noted that this was his third birthday in a new city (Vancouver B.C., Santa Barbara, Atlanta). That's the way it goes when we continuously move in December.
Snow started falling on the morning of the big day and severe weather warnings kept Kim & Ken down in Newnan.
Rob and I made our way through slushy streets in search of our most favorite game - pinball. That little silver ball and the hope of replay after replay drew us to a local watering hole called The Highlander. Rob did not disappoint, getting well, replay after replay.

Late Sunday brunch has quickly become a tradition here in the city. Two weeks in a row with no end in sight, we met our friend Kelly at Murphy's in Virginia Highland. Crab cake Benedict with jalepeno hollandaise sauce - oh my.

We met Kelly a few years ago in California through Ginger. To our delight, she has no problem driving down from her neighborhood in Buckhead to meet up with us. We've noticed there is somewhat of an invisible line between that area north of the city and downtown proper where we live.
After brunch we headed across the street for a birthday drink at an old school establishment (half bar/half steakhouse) that is tucked away underground called the Highland Tap. It is really something unique and we are loving going out in the city.

We headed down to Newnan yesterday for belated birthday dinner with family. Ava is a very normal 2 and a half year old - at the sight of presents, even those that are not her own, she instantly becomes incredibly helpful.

I'd like to take this opportunity to let my sister know I will never forgive her for giving Rob the first series of discs of the worst Canadian TV show ever made (1989 -1996): Forever Knight. We're talking 22 episodes of gut wrenching acting, terrible Casio soundtrack and plot lines that border on absurd.
Rob is in heaven, with his strong appreciation for B-level TV & movies.

In other news - I've got my first few interviews for a new position in a Product Management role tomorrow.
Pete & Adi are hitting the road on Monday, hauling all their worldly possessions and their Honda from California to Georgia.
Kim & Ken's housewarming party is this Saturday so photos of their amazing new home will follow soon after.

Hug Your Honey a Little Tighter Today...

I seem to be tuned into CNN more than ever these days but finding out that Heath Ledger died this afternoon knocked the wind out of me. News from Yahoo. Very sad.

Loft Living in Atlanta

After my last entry we finally reached our contact Steve B. at Bekins in Santa Barbara.
Let's just say as the days passed and we became more eager to find out the date our things would be delivered, the harder it was to reach Steve.

Here's how our cross country move went through Bekins:

November 26 - belongings picked up by movers in Santa Barbara
December 14 - called Bekin to give them delivery address in Atlanta (once we found the place we wanted to rent) and find out when belongings would leave California. Left message for Steve
December 17 - called Bekin to find out when belongings would leave California. Left message for Steve
December 19 - called Bekin to find out when belongings would leave California. Left message for Steve
December 20 - Steve calls back but has no info regarding date of departure for our things
December 21 - Steve calls back saying our things will leave Santa Barbara on December 26. Indicates items will take 5 to 17 days to arrive in Atlanta.
January 1 - called Bekin to find out where our items are. Left message for Steve
January 2 - called Bekin to find out where our items are. Left message for Steve
January 4 - called Bekin to find out where our items are. Left message for Steve
January 4 - Steve calls back and tells us our things are 200 miles away and will be delivered January 5th at 10am.

The guys who actually moved our stuff out of Santa Barbara and into Atlanta were fast, professional and great. Where the process fell apart was the lack of responsiveness from our Bekins representative in Santa Barbara who gave us the original estimate of cost back in November.
So this is us...

Glad to have our Temper-Pedic back, our clothes, slippers, favorite mug for tea etc.
Kim drove up from Newnan yesterday to help us settle in but we made her go to IKEA on a Sunday instead. It was a madhouse but we all held hands and managed to find a media center we liked and thought we could build.

15 boxes, a precarious and carefully packed Chevy Tahoe ride and approximately 600 pounds later we took it one wooden peg at a time and managed to build most of the furniture. So far, I love our loft and the Midtown neighborhood it sits in.

Next goal: employment + our own online projects that we've been talking about for years and are finally going to embark on.

Where Oh Where Can My Temper-Pedic Be?

Day 15 - Our things have still not arrived from California.
