Pete & Adi Get Hitched - Part 2 - The Big Day

It rained hard the night before the wedding. We worried about the dozens of paper lanterns we had hung at the reception location earlier in the afternoon.
By this time everyone who was coming to the wedding had arrived in Santa Barbara. We had a fabulous dinner at Bouchon with Kim, Ken, Marcia and Ginger. I ate brains for the first time. Sweetmeats...right. Not bad.

I hadn't seen my niece Ava since Christmas last year. I'm a bad aunt. She got bigger and looks more like a little girl than a baby.

Saturday - the day of the wedding. Lots of help from Adi and Pete's family and friends. Droopy lanterns replaced, tables set up, utensil bundles completed. Poor Pete had a bout of food poisoning the day before the wedding and was in recovery mode.

5pm Adi's mom and dad walked her down the aisle and our best friends made it official and said "I do". The ceremony was performed at the historic Presidio Chapel by their good friend Jay from New York. Everyone looked smashing.

The reception started at sunset and the rain held off so we could all enjoy the evening in open air.

I've never been to a wedding where everyone got on the dance floor. Great music & great friends - the party lasted well into the night.
Congratulations you two!

Pete & Adi Get Hitched - Part 1

October was a whirlwind of some of the best times I've ever had. What could be better than having everyone you know (friends and family!) in Santa Barbara for your best friends' wedding?
Kim arrived in Santa Barbara earlier than most to help out with any details Adi needed help with for the big day. My sister, the work horse. I am at my most content when she is around. It's like she never left. Actually, this year she's been here so many times she never did really leave for long.
With Rob having this time off of work she had a playmate during the day (while I dragged myself to work) and we would do something fun in the evening.

The bachelor/bachelorette parties were on Thursday before the Saturday wedding. People poured into Santa Barbara from as far away as London, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco to split into girls and guys events.

The girls:
Imagine Sex in the City at Santa Barbara's hottest new remodeled club - EOS Lounge.
The owner Jeff made the evening really special by braving it through a gaggle of Adi's friends (everyone looked smashing) with a champagne presentation for the bride. Live music, outdoor heaters and endless laughter.

It was so great and we could have stayed there all night. We would have had it not been for a phone call from Rob over at the boys party up the street asking "so are you ladies ready to come to our party yet?". It is true, so don't anyone try to dispute it. I saved the voice mail.

The boys (post-girls-arrival):

You can't imagine how many silly and messy photos that were taken at this party.
More to follow in part 2 of the wedding series.
